What Audio Packetization Should I Specify When Opening a Channel? (Q75)

The information in this article applies to: H.245

In the OpenLogicalChannel message, use the minimum of your transmit caps, the remote EP's receive caps, and your desired frames-per-packet value. For example, if you are capable of transmitting an arbitrarily large number of frames per packet, the remote EP can receive up to 4fpp, but you’d like to keep the audio delay as low as possible even at the expense of greater bandwidth consumption, encode the value, 1, in your OLC. If you are especially concerned about using as little bandwidth as possible and not concerned about delay, e.g., over an analogue dial-up connection to the Internet, encode the value, 4. ...and don't forget to actually use this as your max fpp during the call.
