remoteExtensionAddress (Q19)

The information in this article applies to: H.323, H.225.0, H.320

The remoteExtensionAddress field is used where the final destination is an extension that cannot be directly dialed from the PSTN (for example, an extension on a premise that is served by so-called "CO" trunk service, but specifically not by "DID" service). H.320 gateways may be able to use this to reach a final destination, where the dialed destination (i.e., the Called Party Number) can answer and query the originator for the final destination using a certain BAS code (TIN4?). The originating side replies with remoteExtensionAddress under another BAS code.

H.320/H.323 GWs can use the TCS4/IIS4 dialog to pass the extension in the tandem (H323EP - GW == GW - H323EP) call scenario.
