Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Sunnyvale
Job Summary:
Network Engineer is based out of the Sunnyvale location. Primary role is network design, capacity planning, documentation, and new feature testing for a global network. Position requires intermediate to senior level skills related to the engineering and architecture of LAN, WAN, Metro, and Data Center networks, systems, and solutions.
Essential Functions:
The qualified candidate should have a proven track record of designing and implementing global small to midsize enterprise networks. The candidate will work with at team of network engineers which have global responsibilities for defining network architecture and engineering standards. The essential functions include but are limited to:
- Ability to function in a collaborative environment
- Escalation support for Network Operations team
- Capacity planning for the application and performance management on the network
- Provide engineering design and documentation for new sites
- Network planning, architecture, and standard configurations
- Cost benefit analysis of network solutions as they apply to business objectives
- Testing of new network technologies
- Documentation of network designs and standards
- Evaluation of new technologies
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends and nights when necessary.
- Ability to travel internationally <10% of the time
Requirements:
Candidate must have extensive experience in LAN/WAN design, implementation, and management
- 1-3 years design and deployment experience with Cisco 3xxx-7xxx routers and switches
- MPLS WAN and QOS configuration experience
- Understanding of the requirements for converged voice, video, and data network design
- In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF and BGP)
- Practical experience in the design of VoIP solutions
- Understanding of Wireless Technologies including Wireless Broadband
- Knowledge of SNMP
- Understanding of IPv6
- Experience with Cisco Load balancer (CSM) or other load balancing technology
- Familiar with the principals related to secure network design practices
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Experience with Juniper firewalls and routers a plus
- Ability to communicate technical proposals to supervisors and management
- Fluent with MS suite of tools including MS Visio
- Strong project management skills
- ITIL Certification is a plus
Education:
BS in Computer Science or equivalent network engineering experience; CCIE or equivalent.
